Spirit and Life Devotional is a daily publication by Pastor Chinaemerem Ibezim, senior pastor of Able Ministers Chapel, a church based in Calabar, Cross River State.
“He said to them, ‘Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?’ So they said to him, ‘We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.’” – Acts 19:2 NKJV
Paul met some disciples years after the day of Pentecost and they hadn’t even heard about the Holy Spirit; of course they weren’t told, for how shall they hear without a preacher. Reminds me of a question someone asked on a friend’s post, “Who’s Adonai?” It’s easy to assume that people know these things; but they don’t. It’s our duty, everyone of us, to preach and teach the gospel.
But that’s not the focus of today’s devotional; it’s about you and what you know. It’s a fact that nobody knows everything; only God is Omniscient. But one thing everyone of us must have is the desire to know more than we already know. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been a Christian, or how many times you’ve read the Bible: it doesn’t matter too if you have a fantastic bible teacher or if the Holy Spirit is your Best Friend, you must never lack the desire for more knowledge.
Even Apostle Paul the author of most books of the New Testament said, “That I may know Him! In these last days, just as it was prophesied in Daniel, knowledge is on the increase. Therefore you can’t be the one who has little knowledge. Enlarge your appetite for knowledge; of both spiritual and physical things. Refuse to be ignorant! Invest in knowledge! Read and keep reading! Make use of the internet! Watch useful channels on the television! Attend seminars and schools! Church too! Growth, strength, prosperity, longevity, success, improved relationships, leadership, etc, come through knowledge! Do this and watch your life get better and better. You will succeed in Jesus name. Amen.
