Governor Dankwambo Promises An Agricultural Revolution In Gombe

Ibrahim Dankwambo, the governor of Gombe State, on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 addressed a crowd which gathered to welcome him home from his annual vacation during which he told the people of Gombe that hunger would be a “thing of the past’ in the northwestern state.

Dr. Dankwambo, who has just returned from the United States where he spent his six-week vacation, promised an agricultural revolution and disclosed that the state will be supplied with adequate fertilizer this farming season.

He added that he is resolved is to ensure that the state experiences good governance and that more projects will be completed as well.

The governor assured farmers in the state that the state would be “flooded with fertilizer“, which would be sold at affordable prices in the open market.

Fertilizer in the northern state is currently sold at N5,500 at the open market while the government subsidized go for less.

Government sources say that the price is expected to remain unified so as to stabilize the price and check exploitation by middlemen who divert government products and sell at higher prices in the open market.

Gombe State is a major agricultural hub in Nigeria. The state has experienced noticable development under the leadership of Dr. Dankwambo.
