Dear Grandmaster Tinubu, Step Away And Look Again At Your Game (READ)

Must read

by Ena Ofugara

Bobby Fisher would gladly tell you that underestimating your opponent and not analysing his moves before he makes them is a chess player’s greatest undoing. It is what people refer to as being “one step ahead.”

No doubt, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Ahmed Tinubu is grandmaster. But of recent, seems the game is slipping away from him and so like a true player, he must get up from the board, look away and then come back to analyse the game and where his pieces are positioned and if he is in a position to checkmate others or if he has been checkmated.

These are the questions Tinubu should ask himself during this analysis.

1. Are Buhari and Saraki playing me or not? I saw their body language on October 1 at the Independence Celebration. If any corruption case is based on evidence submitted by Nasir El Rufai, isn’t that a lost case? I cannot be so foolish as to trust that Kaduna “Chihuahua”. Or am I?

2. What really happened the morning Saraki became Senate President? Who summoned the senators to a meeting with Buhari? Why did Buhari not show up? Is it true he really slept off? If he did not call that meeting, why has he not sanctioned the person who did?

3. When a cork chases a man in the morning, the man must first run because that cork must have grown teeth overnight. Now why would ‘small’ Fashola… Fashola, my loyal boy allude to me being a pig? Pig? Why? Just because of ministerial list, Fashola and Fayemi have begun to “set chest” for me. Fayemi… that book boy I brought to rule Ekiti. Now, he an Fashola are doing tag-team champions… against me? For real?

4. I have a pawn on 7th rank. OSINBAJO. One more move and he will become the most powrful piece on the board. Am I protecting him enough? Is El Rufai, and even that ambitious Atiku not threats to my pawn? ONE step from being… emmmm. Am I protecting him enough?

5. I have been called a regional champion and even my region. But even in my region, another FA boy (Fashola, Fayemi, the FA-FA boys) in the person of Fayose is reducing my powers. I need to seriously consider reaching out to the people of the South East and South South… I can’t end up a regional champion.

6. But, the people of the South South don’t want to hear my name. They detest me for ganging up to remove their son from power. I cemented the perception that Yorubas always betray the South for the North. Just like Awo betrayed the East for the North. What can I do to make them forgive me? What if violence in the region escalates? Are my investments in the oil sector safe? Oh, my cash cow, oh, my Oando!

6. If Saraki and Atiku successfully cement their relationship with the East and South South, will Yorubas ever be president again? Or am I to continue to play for VP? What is my future in 2019? Local or national champion?

7. But what was I thinking? The East and South South practically worship our sons as their spiritual leaders, from Adeboye to Kumuyi to TB Joshua, etc. We have spiritual control over the Niger Delta and the East. The Fulanis on the other hand hardly regard our Imams. Have I not cast away people I can easily convince to permit me rule them, and instead choose people who would perpetually rule over me?

8. The way Ambode is going, is he beatable in 2019 or not? Of all governors of Lagos since Marwa, he is the first that is not getting national acclaim. I wonder why he is not using the media to create an imaginary image of being an action governor… like I did, like Fashola did?

9. What’s my overall best move now? Do I continue my fake mumu for Buhari and later stab him in back, through his heart? Or do I just declare an open war, instead of this cold one that I have to deny all the time?

10. Where is my light? Where is my only loyal senator!? Remmmmiiiiiii!
