18 Suspected Illegal Oil Bunkers In Port Harcourt

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has apprehended 18 suspected illegal oil bunkers.

They were nabbed at a location within the new Government Reservation Area in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The Suspects

Wilson Uwujaren, the EFCC spokesman, announced the arrest in a statement on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.

The suspects are Thompson George, Asu Tommy, John Joseph, Imoh Anthonia, Adegbejire Michael, Mayei Godpower, Demian Israel Kelechi, Banyo Fred, and Atuaka Chisom.

Others are Elliot Diamond, Simeon Blessing, Umukoro Victor, Horsefall Reuben, Munku Jonah Munga, Nweke John, Amos Daniel, Chikwe Chinedu and Gloria Horsfall.

They were caught with a truck with reg. no. Lagos AAA 995 XH, Toyota Avalon car with reg. no. Rivers SKP 327 AW, and Nissan Murano Jeep with reg. no. Rivers PHC 434 AE.

The truck was loaded with products suspected to be illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil, AGO, packed in 9 Geepee tanks of 3,000 litres and three big drums filled with the same product.

The Avalon car conveyed products suspected to be illegally refined AGO in cellophane bags.

Uwujaren added that the suspects would be arraigned as soon as investigation is concluded.
