According to the commission’s spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, the trio and others at large were part of a syndicate which engaged in fraudulent acts, obtaining by false pretences and impersonation.

He said, “The suspects’ arrest followed a petition from Austin Emuan, who is the Managing Director of Gothic-Len Consortium, alleging that one Miss Joy Ozioma (now at large), Nwabueze and others, sometime in 2011, defrauded him of N16. 9m under the pretext of awarding his company a contract for construction of a cottage hospital in Obagi community by Total Nigeria Limited.

“According to Emuan, one Ezeugo, who claimed to be the traditional ruler of Obagi community connived with Eze Ngozi, who posed as an employee of Total Nigeria Limited, to defraud his company of the said sum and 600 bags of rice before the project was discovered to be a phony deal.”

The suspects are expected to be charged to court after proper investigation into the matter is concluded.
