Mr. Ikedi Ohakim, a former Governor of Imo State, snubbed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission by failing to show up at the commission’s Abuja situated headquarters on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 so as to clarify some issues raised against him during the probe of his administration.
Ikedi Ohakim faces allegations of corruption and embezzlement by his government which the EFCC invited him for questioning in an ongoing investigation into the matter.
Also, a former governor of Ebonyi State, Martin Elechi who had been grilled by the EFCC, returned for the second time on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 for a second grilling by EFCC operatives over allegations of misappropriation of funds by his government.
Elechi who is expected to return on Monday, June 22, 2015 left the Headquarters of the EFCC at about 4:30pm on Wednesday, June 17, 2015
Wilson Uwujaren, spokesperson for the EFCC, confimred that Martin Elechi got another grilling while stating that Ikedi Ohakim was invited to come shed more light on issues in an old case being investigated by the commission.
“We were expecting a former governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, today (Wednesday, June 17, 2015) to come and shed light on some issues in an old case we have been investigating.
“We are about rounding off the investigation and we need him to clarify some issues, but he didn’t show up, he may still come today or tomorrow.
“Elechi was at our office today (Wednesday, June 17, 2015) in continuation of the questioning on some issues we are investigating; he came in the morning and was released later, but we are expecting him again next week,” Uwujaren stated.
