Must read

The Chief Judge of Ekiti state, Hon. Justice Ayodeji Daramola,  has ordered the release of 24 inmates awaiting trial from the Ado Ekiti Prisons.

The inmates, which include four women, are released unconditionally.

The chief judge explained that he ordered their release following diligent investigation as well as advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution and the Nigerian Police.

Some of the inmates, he says, were also released due to lack of diligent prosecution and want of evidence.

While commending the office of the director public prosecution and the Police for their efficiency, the CJ noted that the case files of detainees were properly updated which he said  assisted in decongesting the Prisons and ensuring justice without undue delay.
