The campaign coordinator to Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, Governor-Elect of Kaduna State in Atuku Ward, Markus Ishaku was on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 killed by unknown gunmen after he was reportedly trailed to his house in Atuku Kasa area of Jema’am Local Governor Area of the state.
Samuel Aruwan, the Spokesman for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna availed that Ishaku was shot several times by the assailants.
Speaking via a statement, Aruwan said: “The Police have confirmed the incident. The police have also visited the scene of the crime and have commenced investigation.
“While we appreciate their prompt action, our expectation is that the security agencies will fully investigate this killing and prosecute the perpetrators.
“Security agencies must adequately protect Nigerians irrespective of their status and standing.”
According to Punch, a member of the deceased family said that the gunmen, numbering two stormed Ishaku’s residence and shot him without taking any property.
On his part, el-Rufai sent his condolences to the family of the deceased.
He said: “Our empathy and prayers go to the family of Mr. Markus Ishaya and the entire community over this callous murder and desecration of human life.
“May Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest and give his family and friends the fortitude to bear this painful loss.”
