FCT Education Secretary Warns Schools Not To Admit Sick Children

Following the outbreak of Ebola Virus in the nation, the Education Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Kabiru Usman had over the weekend directed schools to avoid admitting children that exhibit malaria symptoms or whose temperature is unusually high.

He made this statement while sharing the sanitary and Ebola preventive materials to school authorities across the state and sensitizing parents and teachers on the recent epidemic.

Kabiru said the parents of such children should take responsibility of treating them and ensure they are well recovered before taking them to schools for admission.

Among the materials distributed, school authorities of each school were given a carton of hand sanitizers, liquid disinfectants and hand gloves accompanied by posters indicating how they are used.

According to a statement by Usman, the secretariat has sufficient preventive materials which would last until the end of the year adding that they would make arrangements to get more by the beginning of next year if it is deemed necessary.
