Must read

The Federal Government has urged the sponsors of the terrorist group, Boko Haram to cease from sponsoring the insurgents and follow the recent foot prints of some members of the group who had turned in their weapons to relevant security forces.

The coordinator of the National Information Centre, Mr Mike Omeri on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 made this plea in Abuja.

In the statement, Omeri urged Nigerians to embrace peace adding that it was a foolish venture for Nigerians to stage wars and fights against themselves.

Omeri reinstated the efforts of the government to save all the people in various communities and states who have been traumatized by the insurgency meted out by this group.

In addition, he stated that the governments were making serious efforts to ensure that calmness is restored in the various affected areas.

However, he expressed profound appreciation to Nigerians for the support and cooperation which they have been giving to the security forces, stating that it was responsible for the successes recorded in the campaign to end insurgency so far in the country.

Nigerian Bulletin reports that the coordinator said that intense fighting was currently going on in parts of Adamawa, especially in Michika and Bazza among other areas to flush out the insurgents adding that security forces had been recording tremendous success in recent weeks.

Furthermore, Omeri commended the Federal Government acknowledging that the security awareness programme organized by them made the 2014 Eid-el-Kabir a success.
