FIFA U-17 World Cup: Golden Eaglets Beat USA In Opening Match

Defending champions, Nigeria kick-started their U-17 world cup defense on a promising note when they beat the United States of America 2-0 in the opening match of Group A.

The match was played on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the 48,000 capacity Estadio Nacional Julio Martinez Pradanos stadium in Santiago, Chile.

Both teams went in at halftime with the scores still goalless. Five minutes after the break, Chukwudi Agor netted Nigeria’s first  goal. The second came just after the hour-mark from in-form Victor Osimhen.

With three minutes till the end of the game, USA was reduced to 10 men after Trusty was red carded.

The Emmanuel Amuneke led Eaglets will now face host Chile on Tuesday, October 20, 2015. The match will be played by 8:00pm Nigerian time .
