Former governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako and his son, Abdul Aziz Murtala Nyako, a retired Naval officer have been declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for criminal conspiracy, stealing, abuse of office and money laundering.
Before Nyako’s impeachment in 2014, the EFCC had frozen the Adamawa State account as a precautionary measure to protect its treasury following reports of massive looting and corruption by officials of the state executive council under Nyako’s administration.
After his impeachment in 2014, Nyako’s whereabouts have remained unknown and efforts to find him since then have so far been unsuccessful.
