General Buhari Goes Soft On Corruption, Says He Would Pardon Corrupt Associates

Must read

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari has reneged on the proposed severity of his anti-corruption campaign on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 when he stated that he would pardon those guilty of corrupt practices if elected.

General Buhari, who made the remarks at a rally in Kaduna said he would not prosecute those indicted of corruption between 1999 and the time of his swearing in if elected.

He said: “I am going to draw a line, anybody who involves himself in corruption after I assume office will face the music.”

According to several commentators, General Buhari’s above stance on corruption might not be unconnected to the two main sponsors of his campaign, former Lagos State Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, who have severally been accused of corruption.
