Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture, Akin Adesina was on Friday, February 20, 2015 shortlisted as one of the eight candidates to become President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) when the tenure of current President Donald Kaberuka expires this year.
The eight candidates shortlisted are:
- Akinwumi A. ADESINA Nigeria
- Sufian AHMED Ethiopia
- Jaloul AYED Tunisia
- Kordjé BEDOUMRA Chad
- Cristina DUARTE Cape Verde
- Samura M. W. KAMARA Sierra Leone
- Thomas Z. SAKALA Zimbabwe
- Birama Boubacar SIDIBE Mali

Adesina boasts of a long 26-year career in international development and has served as Minister of Agriculture for the past four years and would head the AfDB if selected by the Board of Governors in May.
