‘Come Back, Baba’: Goodluck Jonathan Receives Hero’s Welcome In Sokoto (PHOTOS)

Must read

Former President Goodluck Jonathan received a hero’s welcome when he visited Sokoto State on Thursday, November 17, 2016 to pay a condolence visit to the family of the late 18th Sultan of Sokoto, Ibrahim Dasuki.

The late Sultan is the father of the incarcerated former national security adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki, who served under the former president.

Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki passed away on Monday evening at the National Hospital in Abuja.

Jonathan had earlier sent a condolence message and followed it up with a visit.

Sokoto youths carried placards hailing former President Jonathan and asking him to come back as president. “Come back Baba Jonathan”, one of the youth’s placard said.

Security operatives had a hard time keeping the youth in check as they chanted songs in honour of Dr. Jonathan.

Colonel Sambo Dasuki (Rtd) has been incarcerated on the orders of President Muhammadu Buhari against the orders of four courts which granted the former NSA bail. Recently, the ECOWAS Court ordered his release from detention, but the Buhari government continues to disobey court orders and keep him in isolation in the dungeon of the secret police.

The federal government claims that Dasuki declined an offer to visit his late father in the hospital or to attend his funeral on Tuesday. His lawyer, Raji Ahmed, says that the claim is doubtful.
