A political interest organisation, the Kwakwansia Ambassadors of Nigeria (KAN), has asked the Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwakwanso, to join the race for the presidency of the country by contesting for the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The group met in Abuja at the weekend to draw up plans and strategies to win more followership across the country for the actualisation of the  governor’s presidential ambition.

A leading member of group, Mallam Mamam Lawal  Buba, who addressed journalists, said KAN had come to the conclusion that Kwakwanso is the man that the cap fits after an objective assessment of all the other contenders in the presidential race.

He said the organisation comprises over 10,000 registered voters across the country cutting across all sectors of the economic and social life of the country.

“We are opeanly calling on the governor to come out and contest for the presidency because we believe that he is very qualified for the position,” he said.

He said it would be to the credit of the governor that under his administration that Kano has witnessed tremendous infrastructural development of the state.

In order to translate the vision of the group into reality, Buba said it had set up an administrative structure headed by a national coordinator, Dr. Victor Akwanga.

According to Buba,  “the group is well represented in all the geopolitical zones of the country. It has coordinators in all the 36 states of the country.”

Apart from being well known with the APC headquarters, the group had registered with the corporate affairs commissions as a credible group.

“KAN is a political pressure group formed to compel Governor Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso of Kano State to step forward and contest the Presidency of the country. It is the beginning of journey which hopefully will end in 2015 with Kwakwanso emerging as the president.

“We want to tell Nigerians that time for real change has come and that the man to bring about the change is Kwakwanso. To prove to the whole world that we are prepared for the change, Nigerians from all works of life, from all segments of the country have come together in solidarity to ask the governor to contest for presidency, “ he said.

Also speaking, the National Publicity Secretary of KAN,  Yusuf Danjuma, said Nigerians are assertive in their demand that Kwankanso steps forward to contest for presidency “in order to save the country from bad leadership.”

Danjuma who said the group is made up of apostles of ‘Kwakwansia Ideology’ maintained that the governor can replicate the feat achieved in where he has been able to turn around the infrastructure and well-being of the people if given the opportunity.

“Kwakwanso must declare, he cannot afford to deprive Nigerians of his leadership potentials. We cannot let the country known as the most populous black nation to wallow in the deteroriating poverty, insecurity and underdevelopment,” he said.
