The mystery surrounding the death of a policeman simply identified as Corporal Onu Adeyi who was found dead in a well on Sunday, October 12, 2014, in Benue state is yet to be unraveled as the murderers are still on the run.
It was learnt that Adeyi worked with the Gboko (B) Division before the fateful day when he was attacked and killed by hoodlums who dumped him in a well afterwards at the Gboko Local Government Area of the state.
According to Punch reports, the hoodlums stabbed Adeyi also referred to as Baya Baya, severally before he eventually gave up and was thrown inside the well.
Some sources who are residents of Tomatar area of Gboko where the tragic incident took place, expressed the shock and pains the gruesome murder of the policeman has caused them including the fear that accompanies it.
Furthermore, one of the sources named Ngunan, narrated how they were greeted with the painful news of Adeiyi’s death who was allegedly killed on the night of Saturday, October 11, 2014.
The Benue state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hyacinth Dagala, confirmed the incident and assured that they have embarked on investigations to fish out the perpetrators of the act and bring them to book afterwards..
Although he disclosed that the command has not arraigned anybody in connection with the crime, he called on the residents to imbibe maximum carefulness while assuring them that they are determined to identify and arrest the culprits.
