Some religious leaders conduct themselves in the same manner if not worse than the unbeliever. Leaving us with blurred vision, perplexed and shaking our heads – often wondering why.
Church leaders are called to a higher standard, “Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers; for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness,” James 3:1.
After 2 years the New York City (NYC) medical examiner released the autopsy results of the late Pastor Zachery Tims. I am not sure about you, but I was not the least surprised about the results of the report. If you have ever witnessed the late Pastor Tims preach – it appeared that he had an “every ready” battery, attached to his hip – he had an unexplainable amount of energy that was obviously manufactured.
Pastor Zachery Tims – 42 years old overdosed at the W Hotel located at Times Square in NYC. His body was found on August 12, 2011. His mother made numerous attempts to keep the drug use a secret by requesting the cause of death be kept from the public. However to no avail, the report was released this week.
A bag of white powder was found in the pastor’s pocket –Tim’s made it no secret that he was a recovered addict – he often shared his delivery from drugs during preaching engagements.
According to Julie Bolcer, director of public affairs for the NYC Office of Chief Medical Examiner the cause of death is “acute intoxication by the combined effects of cocaine and heroin” and “the manner of death is an accident.” Foul play was not involved.
In an interview with Ebony Magazine, Reva, his former wife stated that “Zachery Tims did not have a struggle with substance abuse, but it was his “lifestyle.”
Tim’s former wife Reva now runs the New Destiny Church Center in Florida where he once ministered. Tims leaves behind 3 children.
