Ikeja Disco To Inject N600 Million For Improved Power Supply

In a move to ensure customers’ satisfaction, the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) has pledged to inject about N600 million to improve electricity supply through ongoing projects within its network.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mr Abiodun Ajifowobaje at the weekend gave the assurance during the company’s customer’s forum in Lagos.

Ajifowobaje said the essence of the forum was to create mutual customers interaction between IKEDC and all stakeholders to ensure improved service.

“We are doing what we call customer’s forum. We have conducted customer’s forum in our eight business units so that we can use the opportunity in meeting with them and tell them what we doing and our plan for the future,” he said.

He pledged that the company would continue to organise customers’ forum to update them on company’s new products and future plans.

“We also want to create more mutual interaction on way to improve and serve our customers better. The board has approved about N600 million for quick intervention on transformers installations and pre-paid meter installation, which we have started the pilot metering g schemes.`

“Our board under the quick win-win intervention  approved about N600 million for us to do all projects including metering, commissioning of transformers projects that are ongoing, installation of vandalised transformers, re-metering and do some over head line clearance which often cause network disability,” he said.

The IKEDC boss said about 30 transformers had been installed to boost electricity supply, while about 115 pending transformers projects have been ongoing in various site for completion within the next one month.

He said about 30 transformers were faulty, while about 42 vandalised transformers were recorded before the new management took over in November 1, 2013, adding that all the bad transformers had been restored under the new management.

“The board of the company had approved some installations of some transformers under what we call win-win approach to address customers’ complaints and to replace all the bad transformers.

Going forward, we are going to commence installation of all bad transformers and complete all pending transformers projects in all site within the network. All this we are assured that customers within our network we enjoy stable and effective power supply when completed.

“The ongoing 115 transformers in various location of the IKEDC will be completed and commence effective power supply to customers within next one month,” he added.

The IKEDC boss said installation of pending customers who paid for pre-paid meter have commenced, adding that company technical partners are also working towards initiating more effective and durable meter for customers within the zone.
