ISIS Bombs US Consulate In Iraq

A car bomb was on Friday, April 17, 2015 detonated at the entrance of the US consulate in Erbil, the capital of Iraq’s Kurdistan region, killing one and injuring five.

The State Department revealed that no American was killed in the explosion at the heavily guarded compound.

The Mayor of Erbil’s city center said: “A car bomb exploded outside the entrance to the US consulate. It seems the consulate was the target.”

The Islamic State (ISIS) terror group has come out to claim responsibility for the attack.

Speaking via its Twitter account, the groups Kirkuk division said: “were able to detonate a car bomb on the building of the American Consulate in the city, which led to killing and wounding many of them.”
