22-Year-Old Remanded In Prison After Knife Fight With Neighbour

Muttafiu Hannafi, a 22-year-old man, has been remanded in the Katsina prison custody till April 18, 2018, for alleged attempted culpable homicide.

Hannafi, who lived in Kofar Kaura Quarters, Katsina State, allegedly stabbed one Muhammad Sanni, with a knife during a fight between two rival groups of miscreants.

The police confirmed to Punch that at a Katsina Senior Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, March 1, 2018, that Hannafi committed the offence in Kofar Kaura Quarters.

A police First Information Report on the incident, that was read in the court, said during the fight, Hannafi brought a sharp knife from his house and allegedly stabbed Sanni in the neck, back, and head, making him sustain serious injuries.

 Sanni was reportedly taken to General Amadi Rimi Specialist Hospital, Katsina State, for treatment.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Sani Ado, told the court that investigation was still in progress on the case.

Ado consequently prayed for an adjournment.

The magistrate, Hajiya Faleelat Dikko, adjourned the case till April 18, 2018, for a mention, and ordered that Hannafi should be remanded in the prison custody till then.
