LOS ANGELES, United States — Michael Jackson appears through archival footage alongside Justin Timberlake in the new video for “Love Never Felt So Good,” the first single from Jackson’s posthumous album, Xscape.
The video was released on Jackson’s official YouTube channel on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, one day after the album became available.
Footage from several of Jackson’s best-known videos, including “Thriller,” “Beat It,” “Bad,” and “Smooth Criminal,” is incorporated into the production. No holographic recreation of Jackson is used.
Timberlake performs with a group of dancers in sequences that reproduce some of Jackson’s signature choreography.
The video also includes dance movements associated with Timberlake’s own performances.
The audio version of “Love Never Felt So Good” was released on May 2, providing an early introduction to Xscape before the album’s arrival.
At the time of the video’s release, Xscape had reached the top of the iTunes Store album charts in several countries.
In the United States, it was ranked third, behind releases by 5 Seconds of Summer and The Black Keys.
