The Nasarawa state command of the Nigerian police force has paraded a man, Ikechukwu Desmond Okonkwo, for allegedly raping three of his daughters.
Okonkwo, who according to the Nasarawa state police commissioner, Usman Yakubu was reported by his wife, with all three alleged victims confirming her rape story.
Speaking at the Nasarawa state Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Yakubu said the girls were in their father’s care when their were reportedly harassed, although he refused to disclose the the girls ages or when Okonkwo will be charged to court.
Yakubu said: “We have recorded activities of scrupulous elements who are in the habit of raping innocent minors. Notable among them is one Ikechukwu Demond Okwonkwo who has been having carnal knowledge of his three daughters. This revelation was made known to the police by his wife.”
In a related development, the police also paraded seven men suspected to have gang raped a lady, simply identified as Joy after having drinks at a beer parlor, run by the victim.
Yakubu said the incident happened on Friday, October 19, 2014 as the suspected seven arrived at Joy’s shop around 7 pm and drank beer until midnight, after which they offered to give her lift to her residence, only for them to take the to the house of one of the suspects, whose name was given as Mohammed Suleiman where they had carnal of knowledge of her without her knowledge
He said: “The Police Command is therefore using this medium to appeal to the general public to report any case of rape/defilement/incest to the nearest Police Station so as to curb this condemnable act.”
