With only six cases of polio patients in the nation, Nigeria  is closer than ever to entirely eradicating polio, following successful efforts to reach children in seven northern states at highest risk of the disease.

Saturday, October 25, 2014 was set aside to mark the World Polio day which is aimed at devising means and taking appropriate measures to stop the threat of the completely preventable disease across the globe.

Minister of State and Supervising Minister of Health, Dr. Khaliru Alhassan said the new push for complete halt of polio transmission is responsible for the success.
