Manchester City Crowned English Premier League Champions

Must read

Manchester City have won the Premier League for the second time in the space of three years after beating West Ham 2-0.

Nasiri and Kompany gave Man City their much needed victory by scoring the goals that declared them winners over West Ham.

They have the best team, they have the best players, they won the most games and they scored the most goals. In the end, as wonderful as Liverpool were, Man City are deserved champions of 2014.

Mirror reports:

Winners! Kompany is congratulated after his goal

Manchester City have won the Premier League title after a 2-0 win over West Ham at the Etihad.

City went into the clash needing just a point to be crowned champions and delivered a fine performance to ensure their second title in three years.

Goals from Samir Nasri and Vincent Kompany secured the win over the Hammers to spark scenes of jubilation – and a pitch invasion – in Manchester.

Liverpool had kept the pressure on Manuel Pellegrini’s men by beating Newcastle 2-1 – despite an indifferent first-half – but there was to be no final day drama as hoped at Anfield.

Afterwards, Joe Hart said: “You can’t repeat what happened last time. That’s how it went that day. QPR were fighting for their lives when they played us. This year I think we’ve really come strong when we needed to.

“We won the games we needed to win and this is the final result. We’re all winners, we’ve got strong personalities, we’ve found a way for it to work, we’ve got a great backroom staff, some amazing people that work for Manchester City.”
