A man identified as Elijah Nwankwo from the Ikwo local Government Area of Ebonyi state has on Thursday, December 11, 2014, died after allegedly drinking eight cans of Bullet Energy drink following a bet to win N1,600 thereafter.
According to a source, one Chikwado Nchionu made the bet to give out the sum of N1, 600 to anyone that finishes as much cans of the energy drink and Nwankwo reportedly boasted that he could consume as much and go home with the money.
Unfortunately for him, he could not live to tell the story as the bet turned sour after he became weak and went into coma before he finally gave up the ghost.
Confirming the incident, the police spokesman in Enugu State, Ebere Amaraizu, DSP, said that the deceased became weak and went into coma after taking the drinks.
Amaraizu said, “He was consequently rushed to the Mother of Christ Hospital Enugu, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
“His body has also been deposited at the hospital mortuary for necessary action.”
