Man Sentenced To Life For Raping Pregnant Woman In Osun

A man identified as  Kolawole Obafemi has received a sentence of life imprisonment from the  Osun State High Court for raping a pregnant woman.

This was disclosed by an information official of the state, Mr. Opeyemi Bello in a statement on Wednesday, September 24, 2014.

According to the statement, Justice A. B. Abdulkareem directed that the convict should also receive some strokes.

Obafemi was convicted by the judge for one count charge preferred against him in the court.

The victim narrating her ordeal told the court that Obafemi came to her house on September 15, 2007, at about 7.30pm.

Although the statement did not explain the relationship between the duo, but it stated that the convict tore the victim’s clothes and beat her up at the simultaneously.

A part of the statement reads, “He (Obafemi) tore her panties and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her. He plucked out her pubic hair and put them in her mouth to drink with dry gin.

From the medical report obtained from LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, it was confirmed that the victim was raped and was also pregnant as of the time of the rape.

According to the court, the prosecutor Mrs. Rachel Ojimi, a chief state counsel from the ministry of Justice, was able to doubtlessly confirm the case.
