The Benue state magistrate court has prosecuted a 32-year-old man identified as Mr. Terkura Iorpuu, on Thursday, October 16, 2014, for allegedly raping and infecting two girls aged eight and six with dreaded Human Immuno Deficiency Virus (HIV) .
It was learnt that the two minors were the daughters of his girlfriend identified as Mrs. Mson Tor.
Reports by Punch stated that the rapist, his lover and their kids had been using anti-retroviral drugs to manage the virus having been living with it for over one year.
However, some unspecified people noticed that the kids had a slight change in the ways they walked and some concerned people took them to Hemko Hospital, Makurdi for some medical tests and examination which revealed that someone had sex with them through “forceful penetration” and also infected them with HIV.
Following the development, the minors were interrogated and to the shock of the listeners, they opened the can of worms on how their mother’s lover had sexually abused them with force.
However, the magistrate in the Makurdi before whom he was brought, Lilian Tsumba, adjourned till December 4 for further mentioning and directed the rapist to be taken to the prison till the next hearing.
