Must read

Following the defection of governor Olusegun Mimiko from the Labour Party (LP) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have directed its members in the party to boycott the party”s national convention holding on Saturday, October 11, 2014.

Speaking via a joint statement signed by presidents of both bodies, Bobboi Kaigama (TUC) and Abdulwaheed Omar (NLC), the labour unions said the defection of governor Mimiko had changed the situation of things as the party was formed so as to grow a real working people’s party.

The statement read in part: “Consequently, the proposed convention of the party in Akure, which venue was hitherto chosen in deference to the office of the then only Labour Party Governor is no longer tenable.”
