The Prime Minister of Span, Mariano Rajoy has called for calm and order, following the panic caused by the Nurse who contracted Ebola outside Africa.
The Prime Minister told parliament officials to provide all the information possible to the public with total transparency and figure out how the woman got the virus.
Four other people including the woman’s husband have been isolated for observation because they were considered as the woman’s primary contact with the possibility of having the virus.
In the course of containing the virus, the government has set up an ad-hoc commission that would carry out investigations and work with the European institutions
According to Rajoy “the top priority is to treat the patient and secondly to monitor people who had been in contact with her”.
I will also want the officials to investigate what happened and why this contagion occurred”, He added.
The Socialists movemement has however put blame on the government for not putting in place a better healthcare system for the citizens.
The leader of the Socialist group, Pedro Sanchez, said in the parliament that the governmet should make healthcare system a matter of national importance as the saliet flaws in the sector will affect the country’s economy.
He also added that cuts had forced healthcare staff to work in “extraordinarily difficult circumstances” as health workers’ unions on has also complained that staff had not been adequately trained to treat Ebola patients safely.
