The Senate Secretariat of the National Association Of Nigerian Students (NANS) is a cog numeration of all the student Union Presidents of all tertiary institutions in Nigeria, saddled with the responsibility of championing the course of a better welfare for Nigerian Students across the campuses in Nigeria.
The State Security Service (SSS), also known as the Department of State Services (DSS), is the primary domestic intelligence agency of Nigeria.
It is primarily responsible for intelligence gathering within the country and for the protection of senior government officials, particularly the President and state governors.
It is one of three successor organisations to the National Security Organization (NSO), dissolved in 1986.
The SSS operates as a department within the presidency and is under the control of the National Security Adviser.
The mission of the SSS is to protect and defend the Federal Republic of Nigeria against domestic threats, to uphold and enforce the criminal laws of Nigeria, and to provide leadership and criminal justice services to both federal and state law-enforcement organs.
The SSS is also charged with the protection of the President, Vice President, Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, State Governors, their immediate families, other high ranking government officials, past presidents and their spouses, certain candidates for the offices of President and Vice President, and visiting foreign heads of state and government.
We received the sad news of our security agency invading the Ekiti State House Of Assembly, the news is sad not only because of the arrest made, but for the disrespect the SSS displayed against the House of Assembly
Chamber.
It is imperative to note that in as much as we are concerned about the well being of Nigerians regardless of the class and status, we also wish to affirm that we condemn the sudden disappearance of our Honourables without any official invitation or prior invite as the case may be.
Furthermore, we believe that SSS are cog numeration of professionals, as such invading the House of Assembly is not the best way to make necessary arrest.
The SSS should have invite their suspects honorably and such arrest can be made after the refusal of such person to honour the invitation.
We are also aware that the SSS has suddenly turned tools in the hands of the Federal Government, this development is not only barbaric but also a threat to the security of lives and properties of our beloved citizens
While we feel that the SSS will as a matter of urgency retrace their steps and work according to the Nature of their work, we also implore the Federal Government to cob this un warrant abuse of security of Nigerian citizens.
