BREAKING: Federal Judge Grants Nnamdi Kanu Bail, Again

Must read

A federal high court in Abuja on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 granted bail to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on health grounds.

Justice Binta Nyako granted Kanu, a pro-Biafra secessionist, bail on “health grounds”.

Kanu, alongside three other pro-Biafra activists Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi, has been facing trial for treason.

Justice Nyako, who has been accused at different times of being influenced by the Muhammadu Buhari regime, had earlier quashed six of the charges against Kanu and his co-accused. She, however, retained five charges which included treason.

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State caused a stir in the court premises on Tuesday when he showed up in solidarity to the pro-Biafra activist dressed in Igbo traditional attire. He took a picture with Nnamdi Kanu which has since gone viral.

Journalists were barred from witnessing the proceedings of the court by overzealous agents of the Nigerian secret police, the State Security Services, SSS, also known as DSS.

Femi Fani-Kayode, a former minister of aviation, was also barred from entering the courtroom as the court met.

Both Chief Fani-Kayode and Govenror Fayose are outspoken critics of the Muhammadu Buhari regime and stalwarts of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, the main opposition party in Nigeria.
