I Never Said A Clique Installed Buhari In Office – Obasanjo

Must read

Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president of Nigeria has debunked reports that “he and four others” installed General Muhammadu Buhari as president.

The retired military general said on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 that Nigerians voted overwhelmingly for Buhari and as such, no single person can take credit for his electoral success.

While on a visit to Jalingo State House in Taraba State, Obasanjo denied making insinuation that he was among a clique of persons who made it possible for the president to get into office.

“I never made such claims,” he said.

“It is inconsiderate of any single person or group to claim the glory. I am astounded by media reports quoting me as saying that I and few other persons brought President Buhari to power to save Nigeria.

“I have never said that, because it is not true. Nigerians voted overwhelmingly for the president and we are all witnesses to that fact. No single person or group can claim that glory,” Obasanjo said.
