In 2012, the then President Goodluck Jonathan appointed Edo politician, Tony Anenih, as Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Ports Authority at the age of 79. Tinubu took a swipe of the appointment at the time, wondering why such an old man would be given the job.
The undated video of that bashing by the then agile Tinubu mocking Jonathan for not appointing a younger person as Chairman of NPA has surfaced.
In the video, Tinubu said: “The President is a very young man but he has appointed an 83-year-old man, (He was 79-year-old) not as the board chairman, but the head of NPA.”
Tinubu, who claims to be 70 years old, is contesting to become Nigeria’s next president in 2023.
The video has been criticised by many who see the former governor of Lagos State as speaking against his candidacy since he too looks old, with many speculating he should be about 85 years old.
Tinubu is facing formidable opposition from former vice president, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) and ex-governor of Anambra State and candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.
Atiku will be 76 years old this November while Peter Obi became 61 last July.
