The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, is set to hold its 75th National Convention in Abuja on Saturday, August 12, 2017.

This would be the first major gathering of the leading opposition party in Nigeria after the Supreme Court judgement which brought an end to the leadership tussle between Ali Modu Sheriff, a former chairperson of the party and Ahmed Makarfi, the current national leader of the PDP.

In an e-mailed statement to The Trent on Thursday, August 10, 2017, signed by Prince Dayo Adeyeye, the national publicity secretary of the PDP, revealed that there would be a meeting of the national executive committee of the party on Friday, ahead of the “Special Non-elective National Convention” on Saturday at Eagles Square in Abuja.
