The Peoples Democratic Party National Youth Frontier, PDP NYF, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to dissolve his cabinet immediately, saying it is dysfunctional.
In a statement issued on Thursday, September 15, 2016 in Abuja and signed by Usman Okai Austin the group’s national coordinator, the PDP NYF said it is no longer news that Nigeria is in a recession, which has put the nation in a very difficult situation.
“The present government is confused and unable to tell Nigerians the way out of the present hardship which the APC Government has plunged Nigeria into.
“The government as currently constituted is dysfunctional. The time has come for the president to dissolve the cabinet and appoint a new one and subject any persons retained from the former cabinet to a fresh round of National Assembly vetting.
“The present economic team headed by a professor of law has failed and the minister of finance sounds confused, helpless, and overwhelmed. It is therefore very imperative and urgent that the President begins to shop for capable hands that will help him across party lines.
“It is time for the president and his team to accept that they have failed the nation. The PDP youths note that it is not only the opposition, but also, members of the ruling party who have seen the handwriting on the wall that President Buhari is unable to take the country to the promise land. It is even more disheartening to know that the president has not recognised his failures.
“President Buhari has done a year plus in office and is still unable to constitute boards of agencies and parastatals. Nigeria is moving backwards,” the group said.
