Chelsea have gotten it’s first victory of the 2015/2016 premier league season after beating West Brom 3-2 at the Hawthorns.
Chelsea scored thrice in the first half but conceded a goal in each half on what was a wet Sunday.
Chelsea could have gone behind in the 14th minute through a James Morrison penalty but Thibaut Courtois who was returning to the visitor’s squad after serving a suspension stuck out his leg to save the ball. The foul which resulted in the penalty was a clumsy challenge from the big Serbian, Nemanja Matic.
Chelsea’s first goal came six minutes later through debutante, Pedro Rodriguez. The Spaniard scored a beautiful goal after combining perfectly with Eden Hazard. The visitors netted again after Diego Costa connected beautifully to a pass from Pedro who was obviously enjoying his debut.
The hosts pulled back one through James Morrison but Chelsea was having none of that as they went ahead again after Costa controlled the ball with his chest for Azpilicueta to squeeze in a shot.
Early in the second half, John Terry saw a straight red for a foul on West Brom’s new boy, Salomon Rondon. The Venezuelan had been a thorn in the flesh of the Chelsea defence all afternoon after assisting the host’s first goal. Five minutes later, James Morrison rose to nod in a great cross from Callum Mcmanaman. West Brom kept on threatening a late equalizer with five minutes added on but the premier league champions managed to see off the game.
