Sequel to the report of heavy gunfire by suspected herdsmen on Thursday, March 22, 2018, in Dong community of Jos North LGA in Plateau State, 3 persons have been reportedly killed in the incident.

It was gathered that the suspects attacked the community after laying ambush on a vigilante group.

It would be recalled that Dong Kassa, a suburb of Jos North LGA and Rafiki village in Bassa LGA were simultaneously attacked last week, where 8 security operatives and more than five civilians were killed in the attack, while COCIN Dong Kassa was set ablaze by the attackers.

At the time of filing this report, the situation at Dong village is said to be calm as security personnel have taken over the area, except for fear by residents of further attacks and grief over the lives lost.

However, Mathias Tyopev Terna, the Plateau State Police Spokesman, said, “No details yet about what happened at Dong, but I can confirm that there was an attack there last night, but I’m waiting for details from the DPO of the area.”
