Police Kill 2 As They Foil Kidnap Attempt In Edo

THE Police in Edo  State, yesterday, shot dead three suspected kidnappers, who attempted to abduct a pregnant woman identified simply as Mrs Ehi on Evbomoma Road, off Sapele Road, Benin.

The suspects had abducted the pregnant woman, said to be from a wealthy family, into a waiting car. Unknown to them, men of the anti-kidnapping unit at the state Police Command got the hint and stormed the area.
Police killed two, while one was arrested.

One pump action gun, one double-barrelled cut-to-size gun, 10 live cartridges, one Nissan Sunny salon car with number plate CU 835 JJJ and a Santana salon car with number plate AA 908 DEA were recovered from them.
The suspects were identified as Brown Ogunbor, Monday and Mark. The third suspect told newsmen that somebody from the prison called him on phone to partake in the kidnap operation.

Edo State Police Commissioner, Funso Adebanjo, who displayed the dead bodies to newsmen, vowed to continue the crack down on “the remnants of kidnappers still operating in the state.”
