Ahead of the Saturday, March 28, 2015 presidential election, a survey conducted by two independent research firms, has predicted that President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would defeat All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari by at least 17%.

The survey, which was carried out by Chike Uchime of Forward Magazine and Daniel Dickson-Okezie of Zevland Ventures Limited showed that contrary to earlier predictions, President Jonathan would win majority of votes in the South Western zone based on the reality on gorund.

Taking 24,000 samples across 33 states and the FCT, the researchers based their exercise of the following factors:

  • The respondents’ views on the achievements or performance of the President from 2011 to date and to see how this can affect his chances in the coming election
  • (2) The correlation between the outcome of the 2011 Presidential Election and the likely outcome of the 2015 Presidential Election
  • (3) A detailed study of the various dynamics that have taken place since 2011 and the likely impact on the outcome of the 2015 Presidential Election.

The survey showed that about 65% of respondents favoured President Jonathan as against 31% who opted for General Buhari.
