The Bayelsa State commissioner for Information, Dan Osueme Bikile, has revealed the state government’s elaborate reception plans for President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan after the official handover ceremony at Eagle Square, Abuja on Friday, May 29, 2015.
The commissioner told newsmen on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 that the Seriake Dickson led government of Bayelsa State had planned the reception, which is slated to last for three days, to express the love of the Bayelsa people for the outgoing President.
The event is scheduled to begin at 3pm when the President would arrive at the Bayelsa State Government Helipad and be received by the state governor and other prominent Bayelsan people. The President and his entourage would thereafter proceed to the Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre for a civic reception and later hed to Otueke, his home town in Ogbia Local Government Area where yet another civic reception will be held in his honour by the traditional rulers.
In the evening of Friday, May 29, another dinner will be held at the Banquet hall by the state government and on Saturday, May 30, 2015, an interdenominational service will be held at St. Peters Anglican Church in Yenagoa and the President will be in attendance.
The commissioner thanked the people of the state for supporting the President through out his tenure as the number 1 citizen of the country and pleaded for their understanding as movement would be restricted in some roads while apologising for the anticipated inconveniences this would cause.
Attendance to any and all of the arranged programmes would be strictly by invitation for security reasons.
