The gift of God that Jesus was referring to was Himself. You’ve got to understand this very important truth. God’s servants are gifts to you and to humanity. But a lot of us fail to realize this, and so we lose and do not benefit from the graces upon their lives.
The woman in Shunem recognized the gift of God. The Bible says that when Elisha went to Shunem, where she lived, she persuaded him to eat some food. She made it a custom; as often as Elisha passed by, he would visit her house to eat some food. The woman then said to her husband, “Look now, I know that this is a holy man of God, who passes by us regularly. Please, let us make a small upper room on the wall; and let us put a bed for him there, and a table and a chair and a lampstand; so it will be, whenever he comes to us, he can turn in there.”
That’s a woman who recognized the gift of God; read 2 Kings and you will she how blessed she became and the miracles and favours that she received from God as a result of her recognition of the gift of God in the person of prophet Elisha. Be wise.
