There was a major melee in Abia State’s commercial hub, Aba, Friday, July 31, 2015 after a policeman, reportedly of Fulani extraction shot and killed a trader after a team of policemen stormed the popular Ariaria Market, allegedly, to effect an arrest.
According to eyewitnesses, the youths of the town attempted to burn down the Ariaria police station, beat up some policemen and seized their guns before policemen from other divisions stormed the area and sprayed tear gas in and outside the market.
