The operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad have finally nabbed a 22-year old man, Mr. Wasiu Kadiri, while he was having his bath inside the Oroyin Motor Park, Isale Eko on the Lagos Island after one month of trailing him for allegedly killing his friend.

Kadir was said to have fled after murdering his friend simply  identified as Segun, on Saturday, October 4, 2014,  in Odoshiwola, Epe.

According to a report by Punch, it was learnt that late Segun, from the Ejinrin Local Government Area, had come to celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir with another friend in the area, identified simply as Tunji, when he was allegedly stabbed to death by the suspect.

Kadir who was said to have had the cooperation of some hoodlums was arrested on the morning of Tuesday, November 4, 3014,at his hiding place.

The suspect reportedly accused the deceased and Tunji of dating his wife, Barakat, and absconding with his three-month-old baby.

Narrating the incident, an acclaimed eyewitness Mr. Azeez Omotan, said, “The celebration was just gaining momentum when the two men engaged each other in a fight.

“No sooner had the fighting started than Segun was stabbed to death. Once the news filtered into the area, the Sallah celebration turned sour, and everyone quickly left the place in fear.

“Two members of a local vigilante group called Emuwon, tried to arrest Kadiri, but he escaped in a taxi cab. That was the last time we saw him.”

Furthermore, another resident, Mr. Isiaka Olopade, said, “I had left home on that morning to get my share of Sallah ram from an Alhaji. The late Segun also followed me to buy a soft drink. Minutes later, I saw him running back with blood all over his body. He managed to speak that it was Kadiri who stabbed him. He died afterwards.

“While we were looking for Kadiri, a woman told me that she overheard someone warning him that the person he stabbed was dead. That was how he escaped.”

Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, said the force had concluded investigations into the matter adding that the suspect would soon face trial in court.
