Ryan Lotche might miss the 2017 World Swimming Championships as he is expected to be suspended for 10 months.
The 12-time Olympic medalist who recently apologized for lying about a robbery incidence in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil during the 2016 Olympics might be suspended for 10 months, sources tells ABC News contributor, Christine Brennan.
Lochte had initially said that he was robbed by police officers in Rio, alongside team mates, Gunnar Bentz, Jack Conger and Jimmy Feigen, at a gas station.
Brazilian police later called Lochte’s story a fabrication, saying that the swimmers had vandalized a bathroom at the gas station and were confronted by armed security personnel, asking for money for the damage.
Lochte later apologized for his behaviour claiming he was traumatized by language barrier in a foreign country.
Since the incidence, Lotche has been dropped by four sponsors including Ralph Lauren.
