SAD: Former Speaker Bankole’s Step-Mother Dies On Daughter’s Wedding Day

Step-mother to the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, Chief (Mrs.) Adunni Bankole, has died of a heart-related illness after relapsing into coma for five days. She would have turned 56 on Sunday, March 29, 2015.

Vanguard gathers that Adunni, who has been ill for over a month was the Iyalode of Gbagura and was expected to give her second daughter, Mopelola out in marriage on the day she died, although she was able to witness the introduction ceremony.

A source close to the family said the news of her death was not broken to the two families who had gathered for the wedding ceremony.

Efforts to reach her husband, Chief Alani Bankole and former Speaker Dimeji Bankole proved abortive, although Alani said: “I don’t want to make any comment” via telephone.
