Police Affairs Minster, Jelili Adesiyan has stated emphatically that no amount of propaganda and smear tactics of the All progressives Congress (APC) would stop Nigerians from coming out in their numbers to re-elect President Goodluck Jonathan as President during the forthcoming presidential election as his achievements in all sectors were enough to make him victorious at the polls.
Adesiyan made the assertion via a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Wale Akinola, to commemorate of new year celebration and the birth of Prophet Muhammed (Eid-el-Maulud, stressing that Nigerians needed to be united and pray to God for “free, fair and credible election as promised by the president.”
He said although some members of the APC had threatened to cause mayhem if they failed in the election, the Federal Government would ensure transparent elections, as anyone who violates the law would be summarily dealt with.
In his words: “As we celebrate new year and the birth of Prophet Muhammed, according to Islamic lunar calendar, I want to urge Nigerians to remain united and indivisible entity so as get to our dream land as a nation. I want every citizen of this country to use the period to pray for the peace and tranquility as we approach this year general elections.
“President Jonathan has promised Nigerians to give us free, fair and credible election that will be adjudged the best in Africa. I want to urge the electorate not to be distracted by the antics and propaganda machinery of APC by voting for the President en masse on February 14 to continue his transformation agenda so that Nigeria can become an Eldorado of Africa.”
