ABUJA, Nigeria – Well-known social media critic and activist Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, has publicly accused Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh, a politician of the ruling party’s All Progressives Congress (APC) of threatening his life.
This statement, issued on Thursday, January 11, 2023, comes after several events involving Ms Dikeh and Mr Otse, which have escalated tensions between the two social media personalities.
Recalling the incident, VeryDarkMan was initially taken into police custody following allegations by Dikeh earlier in the week.
She had accused him of making unfounded claims about her and fellow actress Iyabo Ojo’s involvement in the case surrounding the late singer Mohbad.
Though VeryDarkMan was released, the same day, after police interrogation, the situation did not end there.
In a video message shared on his verified Instagram handle on Thursday, January 11, 2023, VeryDarkMan claimed that he has been receiving threats from Dikeh since his release.
Expressing his concerns, he stated, “Tonto Dikeh has threatened me, and I’m scared for my life at this point. If anything happens to me, hold Tonto Dikeh accountable.”
Mr Otse also revealed that Ms Dikeh knows “movement in Abuja” as both personalities attend the same gym.
VeryDarkMan’s claim has brought attention to the potential dangers faced by social media critics, especially when their comments involve high-profile individuals.
As VeryDarkMan now claims to live in constant fear, the situation underscores the need for responsible discourse on social media platforms and the importance of addressing threats and harassment in the digital space.
These allegations have sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with followers and fans of both personalities weighing in on the matter.
As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how Tonto Dikeh will respond to these serious accusations and what steps will be taken to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all involved parties.
