#SoundOff: Why Saraki Is Avoiding Impeachment Proceedings Against Buhari

Must read

[dropcap]Y[/dropcap]ou will all be wondering why Nigeria’s senate president, Dr. Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Dr. Ike Ekweremadu have not instituted an impeachment proceeding against President Muhammadu Buhari despite his many impeachable offences.

This is my take:

1. If Senator Saraki goes ahead with the process and President Buhari is impeached by the senate, Saraki’s ordeal will just have started. It would mean that Professor Yemi Osinbajo, the “mere commissioner” vice president will become head of the All Progressives Congress, APC. Bad News!

2. An Osinbajo presidency would mean that Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be running the federal government since Osinbajo will always remain his puppet. This is even more bad news for Saraki!

3. Senator Saraki will not be able to fulfill his presidential dreams. Still worse news!

4. Saraki knows that Tinubu has set up a bait him to begin the impeachment proceedings against Buhari. He is pushing the various legal trials – the Code of Conduct Trial, the forgery trial – to make sure he nails Saraki by all means. And should the forgery fail, trust me, something will come up again since Saraki seems to have a lot against him. Further, bad news!

5. You now see why Saraki must do all possible to remain the senate president no matter how the office is desecrated or his person rubbished?

6. Bola Tinubu stays ahead in this permutation because, either way, Saraki loses.
