Spirit And Life Devotional: Becoming A Recordholder

Must read

Spirit and Life Devotional is a daily publication by Pastor Chinaemerem Ibezim, senior pastor of Able Ministers Chapel, a church based in Calabar, Cross River State.

“And he did what was right in the sight of the Lord, yet not like his father David; he did everything as his father Joash had done.” 2 Kings 14:3 NKJV

King Amaziah the son of Joash, became king of Judah at twenty five years old, and he did what was right in the sight of the Lord. But David set a very high standard and raised the bar so high, so it was said that even though Amaziah did what was right, yet it was not like his father David did.

That tells me that there’s still room for improvement. You pray, but are you praying enough? You give, are you giving enough? You fast, are you fasting enough? You love God, do you love Him enough? Are you studying the word of God as much as you should? Do you love your neighbours sufficiently?

You can apply it to your work, business, school and relationships: you are trying, but is that the very best you can do? Even if you are well celebrated, there’s always room for improvement. Don’t ever get to the point where you no longer desire to improve and get better; why? Because that will be the day that you begin to get worse. Reject complacency; reject mediocrity; reject the good! Strive to become better, become the best, and if I may add, don’t stop until you become the record holder!
